Possum Hollow
 Turkish Guardian Dogs

All of our Anatolian Shepherd Dogs are bred for their working ability.  They live year round in the pastures with the stock, moving from one pasture to the other and one set of stock to another as we need them.  They easily withstand temperatures from -0 F to 100 F. Puppies are born in a barn stall or whelping room and moved to the pasture at four to five weeks old.  All of our Anatolians are registered with ASDCA (Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America) and/or AKC.

Daniel is our top fawn/masked stud.  He is proving to be a dedicated guardian, excellent with the public, and will be making a splash in the therapy dog world.  And he is just as handsome as his sire.  Daniel has worked with sheep and goats and is quite willing to step up to the plate if a threat is detected.  He works very well with any dog we have put him with.

Elijah is our up and coming brindle Anatolian stud.  He is an exceptional working guardian and is absolutely beautiful too.  He is a very nice light brindle with a black muzzle, correct legs and excellent build.  Eli is the picture of a strong working guardian with his stocky, powerful build.  He is watchful, gentle and dedicated to his job.  He is tolerant of other dogs but will not allow harm to his livestock.  He is working with sheep and has also worked with boer and pygmy goats, cattle, and horses.

John is our next great foundation sire.  He is a very large and beautiful fawn male and will be a strong addition to our working lines.  John has been working with sheep and goats since he was a small puppy and has been exemplary.  He is now working with lambs and kids as well.  He is very gentle, extremely attentive to his livestock and always on the job.  He is learning from the best (our neutered male, Clyde) and is showing his heritage in a big way.  John is out of our top stud dog, Daniel, and we are very pleased that he is proving Daniel to be an excellent sire in every way

Abelambs2.jpg (79201 bytes)

Abraham is our senior stud dog.  He is a big male with plenty of courage and willingness to take on intruders.  He works guarding the goats and sheep, including newborn lambs and kids and training young pups.  Abraham is a top quality guardian dog and proven sire.  He is fearless, caring and has a "gentle giant" personality.  He is aggressive in his work, but tolerates strangers if they are with us.  His work is his primary focus and he excels in it.  He is an alert and bold guardian and has not shown any tendencies toward play behavior with the livestock.  Abe is suspicious of strangers and will not tolerate strange dogs unless we are with them.  However he is fine with our working Border Collies.  Abe is extremely vigilant and can be seen lying on the hilltop watching over his flock/herd even in the ice and snow.  He is powerful and fearless.

Moses was one of our foundation studs.  He is a wonderful guardian dog.  He is loving, laid back and will guard sheep, goats, cattle and horses.  He is exceptional with calves and miniature horses.  His offspring are now caring for poultry, sheep, goats, llamas and alpacas.  And even a houseful of cats!  Moses is very friendly and enjoys lots of attention, but is all business when a threat approaches.  He goes with us every year to a fun run and pulls a cart carrying my young son and then enjoys the attention of multitudes of new found friends from toddlers to grandfolks.  During the summer of 2005, Moses saved my sister's life when a German Shepherd attacked her.  As a result he is now retired to the position of chief barn dog and watches of my sister, her cats, and her horses.  Moses is featured on our slide presentation titled "Dogs and Cattle."  Scroll down to see some of the wonderful pups Moses produced.

Rachel is a beautiful and dedicated creamy white female.  Excellent with sheep, goats, and larger livestock.  Rachel is one of our puppy trainers.  She has experience in keeping coyotes and stray dogs away.  Her gentile manner is typical of a wonderful graceful caretaker.  She is alert but non-threatening with strangers if they are properly introduced.  Rachel is excellent with children from infants up.

Eli and Zelah (on right)

We are pleased to list Zelah in our future breeding Anatolian family.  She is a fabulous working guardian who has been working with pygmy and boer goats and sheep.  She is very watchful, stays with her livestock and is fearless.  She is a sturdy built female (you don't see this in the photo above) with plenty of power and excellent legs.  She is going to be one of our top producers and she's a beautiful light brindle to top it off.

Eve is one of our foundation females.  She is an exceptionally beautiful brindle female out our Moses lines.  She has a wonderfully gentle temperament and is tolerant of all her charges including newborn sheep, goats, cattle and as many small children as she can gather around her.  She is exceptional with newborns already and proved herself an effective and diligent guardian at a very young age.  She is a proven dam and has raised many great guardians.  She has a perfect brindle coat and excellent conformation.
